Bogoo’s Best Day is the brainchild of Zac Barnett and Matt Sanchez, two artists no strangers to creating music with a positive message. “It’s incredible to see people celebrating and using ‘Best Day of My Life’ and so many of our songs for life’s biggest moments,” says Zac. “We wanted to build a world and a body of music that families could enjoy together, learn from, and most importantly, have the best time doing it.”
With Bogoo’s off-the-wall energy, his adorable yet mischievous best friend Bestie, and Papa Piña keeping the crew grounded, Bogoo’s Best Day delivers music and storytelling that’s fun, meaningful, and made for the whole family.
Meet The Minds Behind Bogoo’s Best Day
After writing and performing #1 multi-platinum hits like “Best Day of My Life,” “Go Big or Go Home,” and “I’m Born to Run” with their band American Authors, lead singer Zac Barnett and drummer Matt Sanchez became more than just bandmates; they became best friends. After more than 15 years of sharing their feel-good music with audiences around the world, the duo set out to create something the entire family could enjoy together; a world filled with positivity, adventure, and fun for parents and kids alike.
Zac grew up splitting his time between Minneapolis and Los Angeles, immersed in surf and snowboard culture; an influence that helped shape the laid-back, zany energy of Bogoo’s world. With a father who was a professional puppeteer and magician, Zac was introduced early to performance and storytelling. “All summer long I assisted my dad at puppet shows across Southern California. It’s wild, he built me my first guitar and introduced me to puppeteering. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Matt Sanchez, on the other hand, was raised in San Antonio, Texas, with a deep foundation in classical music and film composition. “The character of Papa Piña and the lessons he teaches are inspired by my father, my ‘pampo,’ and my Mexican heritage. Life wasn’t always easy, but with the support of family, we always found the strength to keep moving forward.”

MEET THE CHARACTERS
Bogoo
Every day, the high-spirited, rambunctious Bogoo finds himself in a new predicament, but that never stops him from having the best day of his life. Growing up by the beach, Bogoo lives for adventure, from surfing and skateboarding to constant learning and discovery. His positive mindset keeps him on track through even the toughest times, and no matter what kind of mischief he stumbles into, Bogoo always finds the good in life, with a little help from his dad, Papa Piña, and his best friend, Bestie.
Papa Piña
As Bogoo’s father, Papa Piña is no stranger to looking at his kid and saying, “Ay mijo…” a time or two. While he has his hands full as a single dad navigating Bogoo’s energetic antics, Papa Piña shows nothing but love, comfort, support, and the wisdom every kid needs in their life. Their friendship makes their bond open and honest, making it mostly easy to guide Bogoo through whatever whacky situation he lands in. The voice of reason in this off-the-wall cast, and yes, also a giant talking pineapple, Papa Piña is the heart of the family.
Bestie
Bestie is an alien cat lifeform who just so happens to be Bogoo’s best friend. Hailing from a distant land filled with magic and beauty beyond imagination, Bestie crash-landed in Bogoo’s backyard during early childhood, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Reckless and overtly hyper, Bestie’s love for music and motivation makes them the perfect friend for Bogoo; the yin to his yang, the ultimate partner in crime. The only English word Bestie can speak is “Bestie,” but because of their bond, they all understand each other just fine. Sometimes friendship and emotion really do transcend language.
